Daniel Markel has been a professional investor, advisor and entrepreneur for over 20 years overseeing all aspects of acquisitions, development, securities, and investor relations and a Managing Member/General Partner of over 30 Private Placements offered through his firm, DT Securities, Ltd. Over the course of his extensive career, he has paved his own way in a variety of diverse and exciting sectors — all while offering high net worth individuals a wide array of investment opportunities.
A highly experienced real estate professional, Dan has guided numerous complicated developments to completion. In commercial real estate, his focus has been on multi-family since founding DT in 1996. His leadership and expertise with adaptive reuse projects in Los Angeles was recognized by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal with the award-winning DT Noho Lofts project, which was San Fernando Valley’s first authentic Live Work Loft conversion. Dan later founded and managed the real estate brokerage firm, DT Real Estate Investments in Studio City, California from 2004 to 2008. As Dan moves back into the sector as an investor and developer, he will focus on the acquisition and development of “live work mixed-use” projects throughout California.
Dan has also acted as the lead Managing Dealer in many private equity offerings with several private and public companies acting as investment banking advisor, lead partner and Managing Dealer.
In spite of significant challenges faced during the global recession 2008 – 20012 some of Dan’s proudest professional moments were facing the challenges directly in the modifying of dozens of commercial loans and saving several properties that could have easily gone back to the banks – as many real estate owners experienced.
Presently, Dan owns and operates one of the most successful franchises of Jersey Mike’s in the nation; he plans to franchise numerous other restaurants as well. As a seasoned restaurateur, Markel has expaned his company, Pure Blue Dining, to the world of fast casual health. The company focuses on casual restaraunts that showcase all types of food across the country. Markey currenty has agreements with Dog Haus and Hummus & Pita, Co. from NYC and has plans to introduce these restraunts from the East coast to southern California in Q1 2020.
Dan is also the founder and managing member of MyLife Recovery Centers. MyLife Recovery Centers is responsible for creating a revolutionary treatment—a long-lasting naltrexone implant. This treatment successfully helped almost 300 patients who never had success with any other treatment for reaching sobriety. Continuing his involvement with MyLife, Markel is currently working with a team of internationally renowned doctors and inventors. With their collaboration, Markel plans to bring another patented treatment in the wellness industry to Southern California by 2020.
Recently, in March of 2019, Markel formed a new holding company. After reaching out to Dennis Wang, a USC business school classmate, the two professionals formed Pure Blue Group, for all of Markel’s businesses in all industries.
As an entrepreneur Dan takes great pride with all of the businesses he has started or created in creating hundreds of jobs for employees, bankers, lawyers, accountants and other professionals.
Dan graduated from Creighton Prep High School in Omaha, Nebraska, received his Bachelor’s Degree with honors from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where he was an adjunct professor in investing, financial planning and entrepreneurship. He earned a Master’s Degree from New York University and is half way through completing his Executive MBA at the University of Southern California. He resides in Toluca Lake, California with his wife Kathleen and their four children Vivian, Jackson, Max and Stella. He is an avid golfer, was youth coach for his children, a big dog lover and proud of his wife’s successful career as an up and coming writer and director.
